Unity . . . fellowship . . . camaraderie . . . socializing . . . friendliness . . . love. These are all good descriptors of the people and the power of our one-ness in the Spiritual Enrichment Center . Without fail, when asked "what attracts you to the SEC?" most members talk about the loving people, the feeling of community, and the supportive atmosphere. People start gathering at the Spiritual Enrichment Center as early as 9am before our 10am service. Cheerful greetings, lively discussions, and laughter fill the air. At 9:30, meditation begins and the "circle of friends" become peaceful and centered. By the time the service starts at 10am, people are upbeat, clapping, toe-tapping, and singing along with the pre-service music. There's a sense of electricity in the air. After joining together for the Peace Song at the end of the service, the action moves into Papke Hall for cake or a delicious potluck lunch. The 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month are designated potluck days. Bring your appetite - SEC folks like to eat. Members can get very creative in preparing their favorite dishes, including vegetarian dishes. The 1st Sunday of each month is birthday Sunday, with coffee, birthday cake, and other delectables to consume while crooning "Happy Birthday" to the birthday folks. Our strong fellowship doesn't stop with our Sunday socializing. SEC members are tight with each other. We keep up with family news, health and relationship issues, occupational goings-on. Whatever you desire or need to talk out, someone will be there to listen. We call each other, pray for one another, champion each other, and love each other. We do many things together - attend plays and concerts, have picnics, enjoy game nights, and throw parties. We get to see different sides of ourselves while attending workshops, book discussions, seminars, and while taking SEC classes together. We are like family to each other. No, wait . . . scratch that.
